In short: medical insurance often "stinks" when it comes to benign spots. Most insurance carriers view the removal of skin tags, DPN, or seborrheic keratoses as "cosmetic" or "not medically necessary," leaving patients to deal with high deductibles or outright denials. We created our Flat-Fee Derm Clean Up specifically to bypass the red tape. By offering a straightforward, transparent cost, we allow you to take control of your skin's appearance without the headache of insurance paperwork or surprise bills.

Yes, but we wouldn't recommend. Unlike other cosmetic procedures, we can do a derm clean up and bill it through your insurance if you prefer. We don't recommend this option as it is usually not covered and the resulting bill from your insurance carrier can be 3-4 times more than our flat fee option. 

Warning* Due to contractual obligations, we cannot go back and charge the self-pay flat fee if insurance doesn't cover it. If we bill insurance, we are committing to the outcome one way or the other. 

No—and that is exactly why we require a dermatological referral before your session. A Derm Clean Up is designed specifically for "benign" (harmless) lesions. While these spots won’t kill you, that doesn’t mean they aren't bothersome, itchy, or a blow to your confidence. If a spot is changing, bleeding, or suspicious, it needs a medical exam; if it’s just a "barnacle" that’s annoying you, our Clean Up is the perfect elective solution.

If you have a collection of "stuck-on" growths, waxy bumps, or skin tags that your primary dermatologist has cleared as non-cancerous, then yes! This treatment is the ideal "reset" for patients who are frustrated by the texture of their skin but don't want to pay a per-spot medical fee. It’s a "polishing" treatment for those who want their skin to feel as smooth as it looks.

We strive to make the "Clean Up" as comfortable as possible. Depending on the method used (such as light electrodessication or precision vaporization), you may feel a quick "pinprick" or a warm snapping sensation. We utilize topical numbing creams and specialized cooling techniques to minimize discomfort, making the procedure very well-tolerated for the vast majority of our patients.

Once a specific lesion is destroyed or removed, it is typically gone for good. However, it’s important to remember that these are the "barnacles of life." While we can clear the current "crop," your genetics and the natural aging process mean you will likely "grow" new, different spots over time. Many of our "Patients for Life" return once every year or two for a "maintenance clean up" to keep their skin feeling refined and bump-free.
