Cut through the marketing noise:
Does Picoway hurt?
We prioritize comfort with cooling and numbing, and most patients report minimal discomfort. It is by far the most comfortable resurfacing treatment available.
How long does it take to see results?
You'll notice an improvement in tone and brightness within days, with continued progress for texture typically taking 4-6 months.
How many sessions do I need?
The number of sessions depends on your concerns. Our golden rule is 2-3 for pigment, 5-8 for fine lines and wrinkles or for acne scarring, and 1-2 for melasma with maintenance treatments as needed.
Is it safe for all skin types?
Picoway Resolve is safe for most skin types, but a consultation is crucial to determine the best approach for you.
Will it scar?
Scarring is extremely rare with Picoway Resolve, thanks to its precise targeting and gentle technology.

Similar Treatments on the market:
- CO2 Laser. This is the “CO2’s little-little brother” It achieves the same end goal but is non-ablative resurfacing where the CO2 is ablative resurfacing. We typically say that roughly 8 Picoway Resolve treatments will be equivalent to 1 full face CO2. The Picoway Resolve has the benefit of a more minimal healing experience with less downtime, but has the drawback of requiring a series of treatments.
- Frax Laser Resurfacing. This is probably the closest "apples to apples" comparison. The difference is that a Pico laser “tricks” the skin into thinking it's been resurfaced using pressure waves where the Frax laser actually resurfaces the skin. We find that the Frax laser is slightly more effective than a Pico resurfacing treatment. Usually a Pico laser will require adding 1-2 treatments onto a series to achieve the same result.
- IPL Photofacial. An IPL is comparable to a Picoway Resolve treatment in the treatment of brown pigmentation however an IPL will not help with fine lines and wrinkles despite what marketing tactics you may have heard. A Picoway Resolve laser treatment will be the best option for someone who wants to see improvement in both pigment and texture.
- Microneedling. Microneedling is the opposite of an IPL. It will be very comparable to the Picoway Resolve laser in terms of texture but will not be able to treat brown pigmentation or sun damage.
- Chemical Peel. Chemical Peels are comparable only for melasma patients. Chemical peels will boast a lot that they simply cannot deliver on. No real textural improvement will be seen in comparison to a Picoway Resolve treatment. It will also not do as well with pigment.
